After graduating from UGA, Bucky began his career as a staff artist for Royal Crown Cola Company in Columbus, Georgia. While at Litho-Krome he served in a variety of management and sales positions including their limited edition Art Print division that produced fine art prints for national and international art publishers before  leaving the company in the year 2000 to devote full time to his art.

In the early nineteen nineties, Bowles was painting historical scenes and by the mid nineties commissioned paintings were taking more of his time. This is also when he began producing some limited edition prints of his work.

In the early nineteen nineties, Bowles was painting historical scenes and by the mid nineties commissioned paintings were taking more of his time. This is also when he began producing some limited edition prints of his work.

As a lifelong outdoorsman, his paintings by the late nineties moved to his favorite painting subjects: sporting art and wildlife landscapes. His art has been used by some Ducks Unlimited chapters as fundraisers for their conservation efforts. The National Wild Turkey Federation chose one of Bowles paintings to use for the limited edition prints that was included in their 2014 National Banquet Art Package. Images of his paintings have been used in Gray’s Sporting Journal and other national sporting publications as well. Bowles paints from the research he gathers from his many hunting and fishing experiences.

Although sporting art (primarily bird hunting and fly-fishing) is his passion, he also does oil paintings of other subjects ranging from marsh and low country landscapes to dogs and waterscapes. He paints a number of hunting scenes and sporting dog commissions each year and his works are collected by those who enjoy the special touch he adds to each painting. He is honored to have his works hang in some of the finest homes, offices and plantations in the country.
